The Hiatus Update

First of all, Schematik Entertainment has been dormant due to general commitments, plans for new music are being put together but financial setbacks have taken its toll on production. Holding down music can be a real grind, especially when income for independent craft has reached new lows and the ability to sustain in the game has become an absolute challenge. Stable employment's at an all-time high, the globe's on the brink of economic collapse and families are stuggling to survive... the pen has no choice but to step aside for a guaranteed wage.
I'm currently furthering my knowledge in the building trade, constant learning has helped me from becoming mentally stagnant, letting hip-hop music go for a minute has been refreshing, after all... too much of one thing is good for nothing. This blog will now be updated weekly with inside scoops into what's hot on the hip-hop radar, pre-season activity from the NQ Cowboys camp, UFC reports, album reviews and more. Please subscribe and tell a friend, next post coming soon... stay blessed.

The Xrossfire: Two Sounds Clash coming soon.

Next month is officially the hour of evolution and solidarity designed to put the soul back in the city. Thanks to the team at Rakinos Bar & Cafe, we're glad to bring you a reggae/hip-hop exclusive entitled The Xrossfire: Two Sounds Clash due to launch on March 25th. If you're not familiar with this format, two DJ's and four MC's collide in old school, dancehall fashion. The idea of such a challenge originates from Jamaican pioneers like U-Roy, Prince Hammer, I-Roy and Rankin Trevor. We're looking to make this a monthly occurrance anchored by The1LikeFurious, DJ Locksteady, MC Arme and 5th Chyld including guests from around the country. Bella Shanti and Grass Roots will feature at the opening show. The concept has been put together in order to cater for lovers of urban and cultural music, very few venues in Auckland serve up this flavour of music so we see it more as filling a void that has long been ignored. Get ready, duck for cover and don't get caught in the crossfire.

First Illawear concepts in full swing

Schematik general One5 is about to embark on another venture with his new clothing label Illawear. The first designs are currently being put together for T-Shirts and fitted caps, release dates and all relevant information will be issued at a latter date. The Elemental series designs are in full swing, these prints are inspired by urban culture and hopefully production will start once all connections have been made solid. Expect traditional street ideas, effective simplicity, quality merchandise and eye catching art. Watch over the Tomb in order to stay updated with progress, 100% Kiwi independence on deck... lets keep it official.

Prepare for Rhythm & Rhyme: The Mash Up

Live music in Auckland city needs a revival and this is the event to breathe life back into a somewhat dormant scene. Created with intention to fill that void, we decided to form Rhythm & Rhyme: The Mash Up. This is a hip-hop/reggae jam session hosted by yours truly with professional sound selectors DJ Locksteady and The1LikeFurious at the helm. If you're popping around Khuja Lounge on Thursday 10th of March it's integral to drop in for the simple fact there's NO admission fee. Open mic available for MC's, bring your crew for a drink... lets bring back real music and enforce change.

Crash Kawse out NOW!

The wait is finally over! After 13 months of grinding and hard work, Schematik Entertainment is proud to present my NEW promotional album entitled Crash Kawse. The project is a basic guideline to writing formation, lyrical skill and hip-hop culture with production from One5, B-Boy Enea (Torino, Italy), Kase from LCA and Imp-Data (Brooklyn, NYC). From a substancial point of view, this package in its entirety is a documentary on the life and times of 5th Chyld told through the abstract art of rhyme and delivery. Tracks like "Concrete Rose" provoke the listener into taking a trip into urban history while "For Beats Sake" brings about the concept of unity in NZ hip-hop and the importance of enjoying oneself. Whatever your preference in rap, Crash Kawse looks to cover all bases with raw joints infused with authentic feel good flavors. Listen to the militant "Street Lamps" now streaming in the media player below, download the LP free of charge at http://www.5thchyld.bandcamp.com/ and please keep supporting independent hip-hop music.

Don't Sleep On The Sleeping Giant.

Since forming Schematik Entertainment in 2009, we've had the chance to connect with independent artists from across the world via. social networking. In the search for like minded people, we found a well rounded master of ceremony in New Port Richey, Florida named Jasen Kabir a.k.a JK1 The Supernova and he's been releasing joints at a rapid rate in order to catch public attention. His new album entitled The Awakening Chronicles Of A Sleeping Giant is due for release this year, more details on the conceptual side of the project will be elaborated upon in the coming months, in the interim... feel free to check out his previous projects at http://www.jk1thesupernova.bandcamp.com/ or head to Soundcloud for his latest bunch of promotional biscuits www.soundcloud.com/jk1thesupernova To get feel for his music, check out the track playing below entitled Return To Sender. This is another soulful joint packed with traditional street character. If you happen to be a real hip-hop fan, you won't be disappointed... keep supporting good music.

Posterity Quakes from Crash Kawse

This is a conscious hip-hop record produced by Chris Macro (formerly of Dubious Brothers), the idea is based on the Old Testament of the bible and delivered in swift fashion. It was made in 2009, originally written for Crash Kawse but due to on going problems with release... it didn't make it on the final cut. In turn, we've decided to throw it out there in order to keep things active and moving. Dedicated to a choosen few, I hope it finds you and finds you well.

General Update (January 2011)

Happy new year from everyone at Schematik, we sincerely hope everything has started out right and all your resolutions are being taken care of... more power to you. Keeping it brief, we've had a busy month and a number of opportunities have presented themselves. We released a single entitled Israels Camp from the forth coming EP, Crash Kawse and the response from local radio has been great. Chip Matthews (of Opensouls) quotes, "Big big tune, it makes Andre The Giant look like Pee Wee Herman". Big shouts to Reborn, J-Roots & MC Silva for their contribution to the record, feel free to check it out in the media player below. I've recently formed a new hip-hop/ reggae mash up crew called The Xrossfire Brigade (The1LikeFurious, 5th Chyld, DJ Locksteady & MC Arme). We'll be launching two monthly shows in Auckland city, more details will be available next month. Opening for Home Brew & DJ Substance at Rakinos on February 4th, this is a late addition to the bill so details are limited... props to Tom Broone for the heads up. Crash Kawse, in its entirety will be available for free download next week, we've been posting singles up lately just to get a response... I apologize for the delay. Thanks to Basim A-Goraji for coming on board as my video producer/director, we'll be documenting footage and shooting a number of videos this year for promotional purposes. We also have a few other things happening but more will be revealed in the coming weeks, stay safe and stay tuned.
